Because Every Diamond Deserves a Story — and Proof

The Importance of Certification in Lab-Grown Diamonds

Your diamond speaks of love, legacy, and light.

But how do you know what makes it truly valuable?

That’s where certification steps in — and it changes everything.

What Information Does a Lab-Grown Diamond Certificate Include?

A diamond certificate, also known as a grading report, is issued by a recognized gemological laboratory. It provides a detailed breakdown of your diamond’s key characteristics — ensuring full transparency and trust.

Here’s what you’ll typically find on a lab-grown diamond certificate:

  1. Diamond Identification Number
A unique report number assigned by the lab, sometimes inscribed on the diamond’s girdle for added security.
  2. Diamond Type
Confirms that the stone is a lab-grown diamond, not a mined one or a simulant (like moissanite or cubic zirconia).
  3. The 4Cs Grading
    • Carat Weight – The exact weight of the diamond (e.g., 1.02 ct)
    • Colour Grade – How colourless the diamond is (D is the highest, Z is lowest)
    • Clarity Grade – Measures internal flaws (from Flawless to Included)
    • Cut Grade – How well the diamond is cut to reflect light (Excellent to Poor)
  4. Shape & Cutting Style
Details the diamond’s shape (Round, Oval, Cushion, etc.) and the style of its facets (e.g., brilliant cut).
  5. Measurements
Precise dimensions of the diamond in millimeters (length × width × depth).
  6. Polish & Symmetry
Indicates the quality of the diamond’s surface finish and the precision of its shape and facet placement
  7. Fluorescence
Describes the diamond’s reaction to UV light — can affect appearance under certain lighting.
  8. Comments / Additional Notes
Any other unique characteristics or identifying marks — such as laser inscriptions or growth patterns.
  9. Certification Authority & Seal
The logo and official seal of the certifying lab (IGI, GIA, SGL, GCAL), along with the gemologist’s signature or lab validation.
